Circuit and District Insurance

Protection for all of the manses owned by the Circuit.

Manse Insurance is an extremely flexible product that will help you insure all of the manses owned by the Circuit or District, covering both the buildings and any contents in those buildings that belong directly to the Circuit.

In addition, the policy also provides Loss of Revenue, Public and Employers’ Liability, Money, Personal Accident Insurance and Legal Expenses.

Buildings insurance

The manse buildings and District or Circuit-owned contents are covered on an all inclusive basis against damage from causes such as fire, explosion, storm, flood, falling trees, malicious persons, subsidence, escape of water, vehicle impact, theft and accidental damage.

The policy also covers accidental damage to underground pipes, glass and sanitaryware. Replacement locks and accidental loss of oil or water are covered, as well, as are Circuit contents and equipment when they are being used elsewhere, for example, in a District or Circuit office at a church.

Contents insurance

Our standard policy covers all District or Circuit-owned contents within the manse. These usually comprise carpets, curtains and freestanding kitchen appliances, such as cookers, fridges and washing machines, as well as office equipment, provided for the occupying minister. Fitted kitchen units, built-in ovens and hobs and appliances are treated as part of the buildings.

A standard minimum sum insured is usually included, but you should check the replacement cost of the items owned by the Circuit or the District to ensure that they are adequately insured. Please note, however, that the policy does not cover content belonging to the occupying minister.

Other benefits of our standard Circuit and District Insurance policy include cover for:

Rent – if the Circuit or District suffers a loss of rent resulting from loss or damage to Circuit or District property, this is covered by the policy. It also covers the reasonable cost of alternative accommodation while the property is uninhabitable.

Money – Circuit or District money is automatically covered, together with damage to a safe during a theft or attempted theft.

Liability – the policy covers you for damages and legal costs if you cause bodily injury or damage to property, including injury to any domestic employee.

Personal accident – automatically included to cover Ministers, Deacons, Deaconesses, employees, volunteers, local preachers and lay workers in the event of an accidental injury.

Legal protection – Legal expenses cover provided by DAS Legal Expenses Insurance Company Ltd.
