At Methodist Insurance, we’re passionate about championing the rich and varied contribution that churches make to society. None of this would be possible without those who dedicate their time and energy to support the church and enrich their local community — the church volunteers. No matter how small their contribution, their impact often makes a big difference to the lives of others.
 
The Methodist Church Volunteer Awards is your church’s chance to say thank you to those members of the church who are always there. First to roll up their sleeves and lend a hand, these are the people at the very heart of your church community. While sometimes it goes unnoticed, these small contributions can make a huge difference.
 
We want to hear about these volunteers so we can help you show your gratitude and, by sharing their stories, inspire others to get involved and volunteer.

Nominate

How the Methodist Church Volunteer Awards works:

Each church can make one nomination on behalf of the church – either nominate a volunteer or a group of volunteers from your church that you feel have made a big difference to your church and its community.

Churches can make a nomination using our entry form and send it to us either by:
 
  • Email: volunteerawards@micmail.com
  • Or in the post: FREEPOST METHODIST INSURANCE (you don’t need to write anything else on the envelope or use a stamp).
As this is a chance for your church to say thank you to this volunteer, you may wish to include a thank you note to your volunteer from your church in your entry, and maybe a photograph too.
 
Nominated individuals or groups will be checked to make sure they meet our Terms & Conditions and eligible applications will then go forward to our judging panel.
 
The closing date for entering our awards is 31st October 2019.
 
Don’t forget to ask permission from the person, or people being nominated, confirming that they are happy for any details supplied to be shared.

Criteria

What our judges are looking for?

 
Entries will be judged based on the narratives written in the entry form. Our judges will be looking for entries that show:

  • Volunteers who have made a meaningful and impactful contribution to their church and community. Perhaps their actions have reached a great number of people, or helped address a longstanding community need.
  • Volunteers that have gone above and beyond in their volunteering efforts.
  • Volunteers whose activities are valued and recognised by those they have helped.

Winners

The awards are broken into two stages. We will have 11 regional winning churches and 1 overall winning church.

Regional winning churches

The 11 winning regional churches of Methodist Church Volunteer Awards will be determined by our judging panel and announced before 31st January 2020. Each winning church will receive £1,000.
 
Once the judges have made a decision, we will contact each of the winning churches via the information provided on the entry form. Announcements will then be made on this website page, in our monthly e-news and on social media.

The overall winning church

The overall winning church will be chosen from the 11 regional winning churches. This will be determined by a combination of a public vote and a judging panel. Representatives from each of the regional winning churches will be invited to attend a celebratory lunch in October 2020, where the overall winner will be announced. The overall winning church will receive an additional £2,000.
