Why choose home insurance from Methodist Insurance?

The people who insure your Methodist church can protect your home, too. Since 1872, Methodist Insurance has protected churches and community groups in neighbourhoods like yours. So, who better to talk to when you need to insure your home and its contents?

Choosing the Home Shield policy's buildings and contents insurance means that you don’t need to compromise on cover. The policy can include:

  • £75,000 limit as standard on contents insurance with an automatic 20% increase in contents sum insured for celebrations such as weddings and Christmas.
  • Up to £750,000 buildings cover
  • Up to £3,500 for contents away from home
  • Cover for valuable items such as engagement rings, watches, clocks, and other jewellery.
  • Up to £5,000 cover extended to include possessions of children temporarily living in student accommodation.
  • Loss or damage to the possessions of dependent parents or grandparents who are living in a nursing or care home.
  • Home Emergency cover and legal expenses cover are included as standard.
  • We can also cover accidental loss or damage to caravans, trailer tents, boats, sailboards, surfboards, and associated equipment (if selected).

Buildings insurance from Methodist insurance can include:

  • £750,000 cover including your home, garages, sheds, greenhouses, accidental damage to windows, underground pipes and cables, bathroom and sanitary fittings.
  • £5,000 of cover for the cost of locating the source of a leak of oil or water at your home.
  • £1,000 for loss or theft of keys or accidental damage to door or window locks.
  • £2million covered against your legal liability as a property owner.

To make certain that you're never underinsured, you should review the value of your household contents and your property whenever you renew your policy. Use our contents checklist to check that you are adequately covered.

You can also save 10% off your premium if you buy your contents and home insurance together. Just call our team on 0345 606 1331 to find out more and to get a quote.

Renewals and auto-renewal

We will send you a renewal pack within 21 days of your renewal date. It will have details of your renewal premium, any changes to the policy wording and cover, and a reminder of what you have told us, so you can update us if anything has changed.

  • If you pay by Direct Debit, your policy will automatically renew at the end of the policy term, giving you the peace of mind of continued cover. When this happens, your monthly payments will continue according to a revised payment schedule reflecting your renewal premium. You can opt out of auto-renewal at any time by contacting us on 0345 606 1331 or by emailing us at enquires@micmail.com. If you opt out, you will need to contact us prior to your renewal date if you wish to renew your policy; otherwise, your cover will cease when your existing policy expires, leaving you with no insurance.
  • If you pay by any other means, please note, the policy will not automatically renew. You will need to contact us if you wish to renew your cover.

Please note that in rare instances, due to a change in risk or circumstances, we may be unable to offer renewal, in which case we will notify you.

Please note - calls to 03 numbers are typically charged at no more than the local rate.
